What will happen to the submited but not improved iconpackages like "Prosaic" (No. 127), lily (No. 184) and Volume (No. 185)?

Will they made availabel for download, when the contest is over?

I'm sure the skins that haven't been approved the authors can upload the skins to Wincustomize galleries.

what were the issues that were responsible for the skins not being approved?

on Dec 06, 2008

I believe AlMonty is correct.  The fact that a submitted skin didn't make it into the GUIC may only mean that it didn't meet the GUIC rules and quidelines.

These same skins may pass the normal rules and guidelines for submitting to the WinCustomize Gallery Library.  Those skinners will just have to decide whether or not to submit them.

That would be something between the skinners and the mods.

Is there any chance that the rejected entries could be put in a separate "Rejected For Competition" category to make them available for download so that we don't have to depend on them being uploaded elsewhere? Some of the authors just might not bother, and it would be a great convenience to us to have them all right here.

Yes, willistuder, that would be a good. Great idea. Hope they consider this solution.

Any of the users can upload to WC or any other site.  That seems to be the best solution.  Submissions that broke some rule should not be displayed at the GUIChamp site.

Zubaz-they can, but will they? I think your point that those that broke the rules shouldn't grace the pages of this site isn't without merit, but if they are categorized as "Rejected", we'll all get the point, and the well-deserved good name of this competition will not be sullied as a result. The vast majority of us are here to get some of the best skins we've ever seen, and if they don't qualify, well, that doesn't make any difference. I won't think any less of the competition if you let us download the failed entrants.

Not my call in any case . .

Rejected skins will not be re-added to the contest galleries.  The galleries on this site are only for showcasing valid contest entries.  We welcome users to submit their work to WinCustomize, which will actually get them greater exposure, but we will not add them here.

It's unfortunate that some skins didn't make the cut, and believe me some were given multiple chances with instructions on exactly what to change.  But everyone had an equal and fair chance of being included.

That's very disappointing to a lot of us that they can't be made available in some way, not as part of the contest, but available none the less. In any case, I can appreciate your position, at least, and thanks for clearing it up. Let's hope that the authors do indeed upload to Wincustomize. It sounds like there are some gems.

I don't understand.  They can be as available as the artists want them to be . . just not at the GUI Champ site becuase they failed to follow rules.

I don't find it dissapointing at all.  I respect that there are no exceptions being made.

on Dec 08, 2008

Here is how it's disappointing (if you want to get them). First, they are sitting there, in one place, right now, but unavailable. That's disappointing. Second, will they upload them elsewhere? If they do, when and where? That's disappointing. I'm sure you know that a lot of people already want some of them; there used to be a thread with links to the rejected ones that was taken down nearly as quickly as it went up.

On the other hand, I can respect, and argue in favour of, the decision to exclude them from being downloaded. That, however, doesn't have a bearing on the level of disappointment--whether they qualified, or not, doesn't change anybody's desire to acquire the IP's if they like them.

It was actually kinda painful for me to reject some of the skins and icons I did.  So many were inches away from qualifying and possibly winning, but the authors didn't do what was required to enter.

And I understand the desire to get these skins, but that's going to have to be up to the authors now on how they want to distribute them
